Cortese heads to Silverstone in perfect condition
14/06/2012Moto3 championship leader Red Bull KTM Ajo Factory Racing Team´s German rider Sandro Cortese heads in perfect condition to the season´s sixth GP, cheap Hertz British Grand Prix, there held in Silverstone circuit. Cortese hurt his right wrist during the free practice session of previous GP, viagra Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya. Despite the pain he managed to finish second in Barcelona.
“They checked the wrist that was swollen in Barcelona and they took x-ray pictures just to be sure that there were no broken bones. My hand feels really good now”, Cortese confirms.
Cortese leads the championship by seven points before the British GP.
“There have often been bad weather conditions in England but we hope that we are able to race on dry track this weekend and continue our good work”, says Cortese.
Cortese has done a great job during the last first GPs. He has won once, been second once, third twice and sixth once. He has also gained two pole positions. Out of the over 30 riders of the Moto3 class, beside Cortese, only Spanish Alberto Moncayo has reached points from all the GPs.
“Cortese has worked brilliantly”, team leader Aki Ajo praises. “He has raced with sense and taken the points that have been possible to take in every situation. The points he has collected show the experience he has.”
The new class reaches the first third of the season at the British GP. The developing work is going forward in full power so it is difficult to say anything how the situation will turn out.
“The situation changes and it most likely will do so during the whole season”, Ajo estimates. “KTM continuously works hard e.g. with the more rigid frame and with the engine. And all the time we go forward”, Ajo confirms.
Kent excited about his home race
– Sissis celebrates his 17th birthday
Cortese´s team mate Australian Arthur Sissis, who is having his first GP-season, has been at his best fifth in Le Mans, France.
Sissis will celebrate his 17th birthday on Friday when the two first free practice sessions are hold in Silverstone. Briton Danny Kent who has raced two seasons in the Finnish team has been twice eight, in Losail, Qatar and in Estoril, Portugal when he also managed to get a second row starting place.
“I really look forward to race in front of my home crowd even though the weather forecasts haven´t promised that good circumstances for the weekend”, says Kent.
Ajo knows Kent´s potential. It can blossom when ever.
“Of course the home race would be an ideal place for that. All the signs have shown that Kent is about to find his self confidence again and returning to his own level”, Ajo says.
MotoGP-series returned from Donington Park circuit to modified Silverstone in 2010. The circuit is 5,9 kilometres long so it is the longest track of the series.
“Silverstone circuit has also great frames, it is extremely interesting and one of the hardest tracks. There are really demanding combinations of many curves, which require a lot from the rider. The riding lines needs to be thought carefully and sensibly”, reminds Ajo.
