The Red Bull KTM Ajo had but a single day off after the Italian Grand Prix this past Sunday. On Tuesday, Jack Miller and Karel Hanika participated in the first official test since the start of the season –at the Mugello circuit where they had raced over the weekend. The riders were able to establish various setup options for the next round, the Catalan Grand Prix on June 13th-15th.

Despite three victories and an additional podium so far this season for Jack Miller, and his lead in the overall standings, the Australian cannot afford to relax in one of the closest campaigns in lower cylinder class history. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider and his Czech teammate put times to one side for the day, focusing on putting in as many laps as possible in four 45-minute sessions as they tested new aerodynamics and front/rear suspension settings. Satisfied with the conclusions drawn the duo were able to take another step forward with the development of the KTM.

Miller and Hanika will be on their bikes again on Friday of next week, when the seventh round of the season takes place in Catalonia.

“At this test at Mugello we’ve tried a lot of different parts out for the bike. Above all, we focused on suspensions -especially for the front. We also worked with different parts to improve the aerodynamics; some worked very well, and others could be useful as a base for further development. After today, I feel more confident about the race in Catalonia. I think that we have a good base with which to start next week, so I can’t wait to get to a track that I like a lot.”

Karel Hanika – Audio (Audio solely for radio use)
“I think that we did a really good job today, myself and my team. We worked on various parts of the track where I was losing time at the weekend. After trying various setups, we have made improvements and I am happy to have taken a step forward. The times were fast and consistent, so overall I am pleased with how the day went.”
