Johann Zarco had a great second night at the Losail International Circuit, performing at the same excellent level as yesterday. The Ajo Motorsport rider repeated second place in the third and final free practice session of the weekend, lowering his times to below the 2:00 mark. Only three riders were capable of doing this, and the Frenchman did so by setting a best lap of 1:59.677. He was just 0.136 off the top spot.

An intense and exciting duel between Johann Zarco and Sam Lowes in the final Moto2 free practice session saw the two alternating possession of the top time. Finally it was Lowes who prevailed, but the Ajo Motorsport rider and his Kalex completed the most laps -4- in the 1:59s.

Tomorrow at 6:55pm local time, the riders in the intermediate category will go out on track to compete for the first pole position of the season.

Johann Zarco

“This third practice session went very well, because yesterday we started the day very strongly but ultimately could not improve my time. Today we could. Along with the team we did a good job today, and we have gone in the right direction with the bike. I think we can still improve, and we will see this tomorrow in the qualifying session. I’m happy because I’m being very consistent, and that’s important. We want to start on the front row for the race, in order to be well prepared. We’ll see what tyres we choose ahead of Sunday to get a good result.”
