The fifth event on the Moto2 World Championship calendar gives Johann Zarco the opportunity to ride at the legendary Le Mans circuit. The Frenchman comes into his home leading the Moto2 overall standings with 73 points –with a 16 point advantage– and after a third consecutive podium at Jerez. Another rostrum finish at Le Mans will be one of the objectives for the Ajo Motorsport rider, who has yet to do so at a French GP.

A win in Argentina and second place finishes at Jerez and Austin allow Zarco to face the Grand Prix with confidence and calm, knowing that he is making a great start to the season. This weekend presents him with a great opportunity to shine in front of his home fans. To date, his best result at Le Mans has been fifth place in 2011 (125cc) and 2013 (Moto2).

The challenge for Johann Zarco will begin on Friday with free practice. On Saturday he will try to take his second pole position of the season, whilst on Sunday at 12:20 local time he will compete for a fourth consecutive podium in the race itself.

Johann Zarco,
“My home race is a round I look forward to every year and I can say that I am ready and calm to face it now. It’s always special to race in front of your friends and fans, and I am looking forward to giving them a good result. Le Mans is not one of my favourite tracks, but there are some sections that are really very interesting, such as the first corner, which is very fast, and the many changes in direction. I am eager to ride there with the Kalex, because I think that on these changes in directions we can be even faster. We are leaders, but it is still very early days. In any case, I’m happy to be in this situation and I hope to enjoy it.”
