Johann Zarco looks for rostrum return on Sunday at Misano

Ajo Motorsport rider reaches thirteenth round of Moto2 season wanting to get back on the podium.

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli hosts a second consecutive weekend of Moto2 racing action, following on from the British GP. Johann Zarco will be targetting a good result on Sunday, after disappointment at both Brno and Silverstone. The Ajo Motorsport rider remains the leader of the intermediate category, with a 10-point advantage over his nearest rival.

The San Marino GP could not come at a better time for the Frenchman, as it is a race at which the reigning Moto2 World Champion has achieved some of his best results in the past. In the last two years, Zarco has twice been on the Moto2 podium at Misano. Last year he was unstoppable all weekend, taking pole position and the win. He also holds a second place in the 125cc class from 2011.

The San Marino Grand Prix sees the Moto2 timetable return to its regular European schedule, with the race on Sunday at 12:20pm.

“It’s good to go straight to Misano from Silverstone and not spend too much time at home. It will be a good exercise in keeping focused and thinking about the next goal, which is victory. At the last few GPs we were only missing a good race result, because we were strong all weekend both in the Czech Republic and Great Britain. These things happen –even more so when there are back to back races. We have picked up few points but still we should concentrate on what is important: We are leaders and we must focus on that and racing intelligently. The Misano circuit is different from Silverstone. It’s much narrower, with slow corners. We’ll see which tyres are best suited to it. Let’s hope we enjoy good weather.”
