The first season in Moto2 for KTM, with the structure led by Aki Ajo, has got off to a great start, with two podiums in four races.
After winning two Moto3 World Championship titles in 2012 and 2016, the Red Bull KTM Ajo team took the decision to enter the Moto2 class this year, in KTM’s first appearance in this intermediate class. With Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder as official riders, the start to the campaign has been promising for the team, with two podiums –a second place in Argentina and a third place in Jerez–, a Top 5 finish, a further 4 Top 15 finishes and a pole position. Oliveira is third in the overall standings, only 16 points behind the leader.
Aki Ajo is the Team Manager of the two Red Bull KTM Ajo teams in the World Championship. Massimo Branchini is the Technical Director of the intermediate class structure. The KTM Moto2, the only bike with a multi-tubular chassis, is surprising much of the paddock, being very competitive at circuits where it has never been ridden before, in a class considered the most even in the world.
