Second day of testing for Darryn Binder at Jerez

13/02/2018

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider takes advantage of completely dry day to continue adapting to his KTM bike, lowering his laptimes along the way.

Darryn Binder continued his testing work at the Jerez Circuit on Tuesday, making preparations for the Moto3 World Championship season that kicks off next month in Qatar. After a first day interrupted by rain, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider was finally able to enjoy a full day in the dry. The South African lowered his best time from yesterday by 4 tenths, to finish the day in 25th place.

Only low early morning temperatures prevented Binder from taking advantage of all the available track time in the first session. In the next two sessions, with the sun making an appearance, he was able to push hard, completing 26 laps in each. In the midday session he set a best time of 1:47.659, which was lowered again late in the afternoon for a 1:47.492. The South African was satisfied with his second day at Jerez.

Tomorrow sees the final day of the second Moto3 Official Tests, with the third consecutive day of action at the Spanish track.

“The second day of testing here at Jerez went better than yesterday, which is the most important thing in preseason. In the morning it was very cold and it was difficult to ride fast, but for the rest of the day the conditions were good. We still have some difficulties with some things, but I am sure that working as hard as we have been, they are going to be resolved. Every day we are taking steps forward and tomorrow I’m sure we’ll take another. I’m really looking forward to going out on track for the last day of testing at Jerez!”
