The young Turkish FIM CEV talents rode with a Moto3 bike at the Spanish track for the first time, putting in laps and sharing a circuit with World Championship riders.

Can and Deniz Öncü undertook a new experience this Monday, as part of their first season with the Red Bull KTM Ajo team. The Turkish twins participated in a productive day of testing at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit, riding at the circuit with a Moto3 bike for the first time.

Surrounded by riders from the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championships, the Öncü brothers used the day to adapt to a track they will visit in just two weeks’s time for the fourth round of the FIM CEV Junior World Championship. Can was able to complete 86 laps, while Deniz put in a total of 91, in a test where both once again demonstrated their ability to learn more about the KTM.

The test provides valuable experience with the new asphalt and the new Turn 13 of the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit, ahead of their return there on June 9th-10th.

“Today was my first time in Barcelona; I liked the circuit a lot and, besides that, I felt very good on the bike. We weren’t looking for a fast pace, but we were very consistent and that is good. I can tell that you can get a high speed here going in a straight line, and I also like the last corner, which seems very fast, and Turn 3 which is the most difficult. I think we can enjoy two very nice races here in the FIM CEV, and I will try to get on the podium here in two weeks’ time.”

“I liked the track a lot; it has very good grip and we set a fast time from the first stint. I suffered a crash but was almost completely unhurt, and we were able to continue working without problems and testing tyres at race distances. What I enjoyed most here were the fast corners: Turns 1 and 2 have very strong braking and you change direction very quickly. Turn 3 is one of my favourite parts, since you need to keep the inside line. We improved a lot during the day and I am very happy with the hard work we have done, I want to thank the team for that. I feel ready for the FIM CEV round, and I think we can have a good weekend here.”
