Darryn Binder hoping to take a step forward in Barcelona

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider heads to the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit after scoring points for the third consecutive race at Mugello.

The Moto3 World Championship season continues apace, and this weekend the seventh round of the series is held at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit. Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Darryn Binder is confident ahead of the Catalan GP, after finishing in the Top 15 for the third time in a row at Mugello last time out. He also has a positive feeling after both a day of post-race testing in Italy and a previous test in Barcelona at the end of May.

Binder had one of his best races a fortnight ago, starting from the ninth row of the grid, reaching as high as fourth place and finishing in the points. This great performance will give him confidence coming into a new challenge in Barcelona. The objective for Binder this weekend is to be consistent from Friday onward and find a good race pace in every session.

This season the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit has undergone a modification in its layout compared to last year. The track has been completely resurfaced, and the main change comes at the new Turn 13, which replaces the chicane used in the last two editions of the Catalan GP.

The 21-lap Moto3 race starts at 11am local time on Sunday.

“The first goal for this weekend is to be among the fastest riders after the first Free Practice session on Friday. We want to work hard and find a good pace. After the test that we had at Mugello, I felt that we had improved somewhat in this aspect. We were at this track a little under a month ago and we got good results, in addition to trying the new layout and the new asphalt, so we already have part of the work done and we know what we will encounter. I hope to get a good result from this seventh round of the season.”
