Continued improvement the target for Darryn Binder at MotorLand
19/09/2018Red Bull KTM Ajo rider will aim to take a second Top 10 finish in a row, as the Moto3 World Championship heads to MotorLand Aragon.
Darryn Binder’s hard work over recent weeks was rewarded with an eighth place finish at the San Marino Grand Prix, after he made a great comeback. The result was his second best of the season so far, and his race-by-race improvement since his summer injury has been impressive. This weekend he takes on the third Spanish round of the season: The Aragon GP.
The event marks Binder’s 60th Grand Prix contest, although he has had trouble at MotorLand in the three races he has contested there to date. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider knows that, if he wants points, he has to be fast from free practices until race day. After Top 10 finishes at the Dutch TT and the San Marino GP, Binder is looking for a third such placing in the final European round before the flyaways.
The thirteenth race of the season takes place at 11am local time, over 19 laps. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s last Moto3 podium at the track was in 2016, when Binder’s brother, Brad, claimed second to clinch the World Championship.

“After a good result on raceday at the San Marino GP, I have enjoyed a good week of hard training. I’ve been looking back at the good feeling I had at Misano, to try and have more of the same this weekend at Aragon. I can’t wait to ride there. It’s a track that I’ve always liked, even though my results haven’t been what I’ve hoped for up until now. The track is only 4 hours from my home in Spain, which also helps me to be calmer. The aim is to pick up from where we left off at Misano and try to place in the Top 10 in every practice, so that I can fight with the lead group in the race.”
