Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rookie continues learning process on second day of testing at the Losail International Circuit.

The Losail International Circuit hosts the final test of the 2019 preseason for the Moto3 riders this weekend, and a second night of action took place at the Qatari track this Saturday. Can Öncü was able to make the most of improved conditions, with the wind having died down from Friday, to continue his progress with his new KTM.

The 15 year old rookie began the sessions well, taking almost 2.5 seconds off his best time from Day 1. Öncü would maintain an upward trajectory as the night approached, and in the last hour he clocked a personal best of 2:08.149, which put him 24th on the combined timesheets. He also used his 62 total laps to get a better feeling with his bike and further experience of the track that will be the venue for the season opener next weekend.

The final day of the Qatar Official Test -and the preseason- will be held on Sunday.

“I am very happy with the work we did, since we were able to be more consistent with our lap times. We are improving session after session and that’s the important thing. Today there was less wind and the temperatures rose, so the track had more grip than yesterday. We didn’t ride so much with new tyres, focusing instead on putting in as many laps as possible with used ones -as now the important thing is to adapt to the bike. We want to continue in the same way tomorrow, in order to be ready for the Grand Prix weekend.”
