Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider faces the third round of the 2019 season, at the demanding American track.

This weekend the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team and Can Öncü take on the third round of the 2019 World Championship season, visiting Austin, Texas, for the Grand Prix of The Americas. The race will be held at the COTA for the seventh consecutive year, but it will be a first experience there for the young Turkish rider. Öncü will look to adapt quickly to the track and take his first points of the year.
At the Argentina Grand Prix a fortnight ago, the 15-year-old rookie improved every day of the GP weekend. However, in the contest itself, a crash on Lap 7 -when riding in the front group- slowed his progress. Can Öncü rejoined the race in order to put further laps under his belt. Now the reigning Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup champion arrives at the Circuit of The Americas with the aim of continuing to learn and improving his consistency.
The third race of the season for the Moto3 class will take place on April 14th at 11am local time, over a total of 17 laps. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team won at COTA with Jack Miller in 2014, as well as claiming third places with Luis Salom in 2013 and Brad Binder in 2016.

“Last week I was at the FIM CEV round in Estoril, Portugal, supporting Red Bull KTM Ajo and my brother, Deniz. Now I am ready for a new challenge at Austin, a track where I have never ridden before. We will have to work hard to adapt to the circuit as soon as possible. If we are consistent and work intelligently, good results will come soon. I’ll be doing my best.”
