Can Öncü heads into unknown territory at Silverstone

21/08/2019

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider is all set for the British GP, after a post-race test two weeks ago in Austria.

Following two consecutive Grands Prix racing alongside with his brother Deniz, Can Öncü is once again the sole representative of the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team at the 12th round of the 2019 World Championship. This is the first time that the Turkish youngster will race at the historic Silverstone Circuit, the host venue for the British Grand Prix this weekend.

Can Öncü arrives in England looking to bounce back from his misfortune at the Austrian GP, where he was unable to finish the race despite his best efforts. At Silverstone, his aim will be to learn and to adapt to the British track. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rookie is motivated and prepared for the weekend ahead, after the productive post-race test which his team completed two weeks ago at the Red Bull Ring.

The 17-lap Moto3 race will be held on Sunday 25th August at 11:20 am local time. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team have twice recorded wins at Silverstone, with Luis Salom in 2013 and Brad Binder in 2016.

“After the test day at the Red Bull Ring two weeks ago, I feel ready to tackle this Grand Prix. It’s my first time at Silverstone, however I really want to get out on track and get to know the layout. I’ve seen videos and it looks like a great circuit, so I think I’ll enjoy it a lot. I hope the weather is good throughout the weekend, so that we can take full advantage of all the sessions.”
