Next challenge for Deniz in Thailand

02/10/2019

The young Turkish rider heads to the Buriram International Circuit with the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team for the 15th round of the World Championship.

The World Championship teams and riders have departed from Europe and are now in Asia for the first of four flyaway rounds in five weeks. At this weekend’s Thai Grand Prix, Deniz Öncü will ride the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 bike, while his twin brother, Can, continues to recover from the injury to his left collarbone sustained at Misano.

This will be the fourth consecutive weekend of races for the Turkish youngster, after participating in the San Marino and Aragon Grands Prix, in addition to the sixth round of the FIM CEV in Jerez last weekend. Deniz is now ready for battle again at the Buriram International Circuit, which was the scene of two victories for him in 2017 in the Asia Talent Cup, on his way to winning the title in that competition.

The 22-lap Moto3 race will get underway at 11:00 am local time on Sunday (6th October).

“I am very happy to be travelling to Buriram for another Grand Prix with the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team. Unfortunately, my brother won’t be able to participate there because of the left collarbone injury he sustained at Misano, so I will race in his place again this Grand Prix. The Thai circuit is my favorite, so I’m approaching this weekend very positively, as I know we can do a good job. I will give my best as always.”
