The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders are ready for the Qatari round this weekend, as they debut with the team at the first 2020 Grand Prix.

Raul Fernandez and Kaito Toba will be in action at the Losail International Circuit this weekend, in the opening round of the 2020 Moto3 World Championship. Following a busy preseason for Red Bull KTM Ajo, which concluded last weekend at the same track, they are raring to go in what will be an atypical event: the MotoGP class contest was cancelled due to travel restrictions. However, the Moto3 and Moto2 series continue unaffected.

After a promising preseason, Fernandez returns to the circuit where he placed inside the Top 10 in his maiden season as a full-time World Championship rider. The Spaniard has shown a speedy adaptation to his new KTM bike for 2020, and he is ambitious about what he can do at the Qatar Grand Prix.

Toba is also positive about the Qatari round, as the Japanese rider claimed his first Grand Prix victory there last year. Now the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider must put into practice everything learned in preseason testing, during which he made constant progress.

The 18-lap Qatar GP Moto3 race takes place on Sunday, March 8th at 4:20 pm local time. Practice gets underway on Friday at Losail.

“Both my team and I can’t wait to start the season. We have not set a specific goal for ourselves, since we want to focus on continuing to work hard and improving day after day. We will set targets as the races go by. We aren’t thinking about positions, but rather we are focusing on taking steps forward as we did throughout the preseason. Once we have everything in place, the results will come.
Losail is a track that I like, since last year I went well there and I got into the Top 10 – when I barely knew the layout. I am looking forward to enjoying a new season.”

“My goal for the Qatar Grand Prix is to work hard from FP1 onwards to continue improving, as we did throughout preseason. As always, I will do my best to get a positive result in the first race of the year. I really like the layout of the Losail International Circuit and I feel comfortable riding there. In addition, I have good memories of previous Championships.
We are about to start a new season in which, once again, I will try my best. It will be very important to stay focused.”
