30/04/2020

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider will face nine rivals in an 8-lap contest on a recreation of the legendary Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit.

On Sunday May 3rd, coinciding with the original date for the Spanish Grand Prix, Red Bull KTM Ajo and Raul Fernandez will take part in the first virtual Moto3 contest, a special race in the MotoGP20 video game. The event, which will also feature Moto2 and MotoGP, aims to replicate a race weekend on an online version of the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit.

The Red Bull Virtual Grand Prix of Spain will start at 3 pm (CEST) with the regular time schedule, meaning Moto3 is up first. Raul Fernandez will face 9 rivals in an 8-lap contest with his virtual KTM. The Spaniard accepts the challenge highly motivated and has been training for the last few days, trying to improve to be ready for Sunday.

The whole show will be broadcast live on the official MotoGP website and YouTube channel.

“Bringing the Spanish Grand Prix into the virtual world sounds like a lot of fun to me. At the moment we don’t have the possibility of riding our bikes, so MotoGP have done this so that both riders and fans enjoy themselves and have a good time. I hope people can have a laugh with us and that we have a great virtual ‘race Sunday’.
I don’t usually play much PlayStation, but since the lockdown began it has been useful for keeping me distracted. However, since I found out I was going to participate in the first virtual Moto3 contest, I have taken each game as a practice and am trying to improve to be ready for Sunday. We will try to get a first online podium for the team.”
