Red Bull Virtual GP of Spain: Jorge Martin accepts virtual challenge

30/04/2020

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider is ready for the first online Moto2 race, set for Sunday afternoon.

Almost two months have gone by since the last time Jorge Martin got on his Red Bull KTM Ajo motorcycle to compete at the Qatar Grand Prix. On May 3rd, coinciding with the original date of the Spanish GP, he will do so virtually, for the first online contest for the Moto2 category. The Spaniard is very excited about what will be an unprecedented Sunday, with races for all three classes on the MotoGP20 video game.

The Red Bull Virtual Grand Prix Moto2 is scheduled for 8 laps, 35% of the original contest duration. Martin will face off against 9 other riders from the intermediate class. Preparation and previous training will be essential for him, as he attempts to take the Red Bull KTM Ajo virtual motorcycle to the best possible position.

The whole show can be followed at 3 pm CEST on the official MotoGP YouTube channel and website. The Moto2 riders will be the second to compete, following the habitual race order.

“Both for us and for the fans, the virtual races taking place is fantastic. In the end, it is a very good way to entertain them in these difficult times, and give fans a little bit of a show so that their Sunday becomes more enjoyable. As for us, it’s good to have some competitiveness to keep us motivated.
I am a regular player of the MotoGP video game, since it allows me to get an idea of the corners, the distance between the changes of directions etc. It helps me to arrive at the circuits with good references. But this Sunday things will change, since we are not playing or training; it is time to get into race mode. I hope to do well and fight for the victory.”
