Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 complete a hard-fought weekend at Czech GP09/08/2020
Jorge Martin and Tetsuta Nagashima claim important points with 8th and 11th place finishes, respectively.
The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 team rounded off a gruelling Czech Grand Prix with a solid and hard-fought race from their two riders. Jorge Martin took the chequered flag in 8th position, after battling in the leading group, and teammate Tetsuta Nagashima clawed his way back from 21st to 11th. The points obtained today by the duo keep the team on top in the Team World Championship.
Jorge Martin moved up two positions off the start, climbing from 6th to 4th on the opening corner. Whilst the race leader broke away, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 rider latched onto a chasing group dicing for the podium. That pack would split as the laps went by, leaving the Spaniard riding alone and experiencing difficulties with his tyres. He would focus on finishing the contest and claimed 8th.
Tetsuta Nagashima made a great start from the seventh row on the grid, gaining nine places off the line. The Japanese ran a fast pace that at times matched that of the frontrunners, as he hunted the second group. Like his teammate, he would end up riding by himself, and Nagashima crossed the finish line in 11th position to claim points. He is one of the few riders to have scored at every race held thus far in 2020.
Nagashima is now 3rd in the Moto2 World Championship with 55 points, whilst Jorge Martin is 6th with 34. The duo will return to action next week for the second of three consecutive rounds, when they head to the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The fifth round of the Moto2 World Championship season will be held from August 14th-16th.

AKI AJO – TEAM MANAGER
“It was a challenging weekend for us in Moto2. The lack of grip and the bumpy track made it tough, although the team took steps forward throughout the Grand Prix. This progress was not enough to fight for the top positions, but despite the difficulties we managed to finish the race and score some points. Now we have to analyse all the data, to improve in the coming rounds.”
88 JORGE MARTIN
“It was a tough weekend from which – in the end – we managed to get some important points. We have to continue working to take that step forward that we have been lacking in these last few races. However, it was a difficult Grand Prix in general; we all suffered a lot with the lack of grip. We will continue to do our best – as we always do – to be fighting for the top positions in the upcoming rounds.”
45 TETSUTA NAGASHIMA
“It was a difficult weekend for us. However, we leave Brno with more points, which is definitely a positive thing. At this Grand Prix we never really found the right path, and my feeling was not great either. Now it’s time to focus on the two races that we still have to come in this run, in which we will give our all.”
