Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 eager for further success in Austria

19/08/2020

Jorge Martin will seek to repeat his victory from last weekend, whilst Tetsuta Nagashima is motivated to continue working hard at the Red Bull Ring.

Victorious there this past weekend, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 team return to the Red Bull Ring just a few days later for the Grand Prix of Styria. After taking his maiden win in the intermediate class, Jorge Martin has already started working with his crew to continue improving, in order to achieve another good result this time out. Meanwhile, teammate, Tetsuta Nagashima is ready to use a second chance at this track to return to the fight for top positions.

Jorge Martin dominated the Austrian Grand Prix from start to finish, in a ‘sprint’ race reduced to just 13 laps due to a red flag. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider also rose from sixth to third place in the overall standings, with 59 points. Additionally, he gave the team their 16th win in the intermediate class. Martin is looking forward to returning to the track for the sixth round of the Moto2 World Championship.

Tetsuta Nagashima wants to make up for a tough weekend, as the Japanese rider suffered a crash in the last race that prevented him from ending the Austrian Grand Prix as he would have liked. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider now occupies fifth place overall, with 55 points. Nagashima and his team will start again this weekend in their quest to obtain a good result on Sunday.

The 25-lap Grand Prix of Styria will take place on Sunday at 12:20 pm local time. In addition to the victory taken by Martin last weekend, the team have also won at this track in Moto2 with Brad Binder in 2019 – as well as having a second place with Miguel Oliveira in 2018.

“I’m sure everyone is going to take a step forward this weekend, so we have to keep working hard if we want to stay in the fight for the top positions. We will focus, above all, on improving our front end feel. We are ready for this second Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, and we are really looking forward to another good result.”

“This week we are going to reset after what happened at the previous Grand Prix, and we are going to give our all again. We are fortunate that we can have a second chance at the Red Bull Ring. We will try to keep taking steps forward, and to do this we will have to work hard with the team. If we manage to change some aspects, I am sure that we will be able to be at the front again.”
