The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 rider finishes in a hard-fought third place, with Tetsuta Nagashima progressing to claim ninth.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 and Jorge Martin were back on the rostrum at the Aragon Grand Prix with a third place finish. Thanks to his good work alongside his team, the Spaniard took a big step forward in the race, taking his fourth podium of the season and the 26th of his career. Teammate Tetsuta Nagashima put in a solid performance on Sunday and ended the 11th round of the World Championship in ninth place.

Martin started from the third row of the grid and climbed two positions at the first corner. A great pace early on saw him set the fastest lap of the race, breaking the circuit record in the process. The Red Bull KTM Ajo talent quickly got into fourth place, but was slightly adrift of the front group. In the closing stages of the contest, he was chased down by a rival and, with another rider crashing ahead of them, they engaged in a battle for third position. In the end, Martin won out for his sixth Moto2 podium.

Nagashima was on Row 5 at the start of the Aragon Grand Prix and managed to gain several places going into Turn 1. His plan of getting off the line well and progressively moving up the order came to fruition, as he maintained a steady and consistent pace. With the help of several incidents at the front of the race, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 rider crossed the line in ninth position.

With today’s result, Jorge Martin occupies the 5th position in the Moto2 World Championship standings, with 95 points. Tetsuta Nagashima is 6th with 79. The Red Bull KTM Ajo duo will return to the MotorLand Aragon track next weekend for the Grand Prix of Teruel, from October 23rd-25th.

AKI AJO – TEAM MANAGER

“I am very happy with our performance in Moto2. After the tough weekend we had at Le Mans, having our two riders in the Top 10 and Jorge [Martin] on the podium is a great step forward. We had a solid Aragon Grand Prix, without any crashes. I am satisfied with the work done here and we are looking forward to next week, when we will try to continue progressing.”

88 JORGE MARTIN

“I’m very happy. This podium feels like a victory. It was a tough Grand Prix but the team did an incredible job setting up the bike just how I needed. We still have to take a small step forward on the final laps next week, but I am satisfied with the performance we had at this round.”

45 TETSUTA NAGASHIMA

“My feeling was not bad in the race. I struggled a bit when trying to push hard, although in the second part of the contest my confidence improved. I started to ride faster, trying to hunt down the riders who were ahead of me, but in the end it was not possible. Next week we will try again, with the same enthusiasm.”
