MotorLand Aragon a favourable circuit for Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2

14/10/2020

Jorge Martin and Tetsuta Nagashima take on the Aragon Grand Prix this weekend, the first of two races at the Spanish track.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo move on from France to Spain this week for the Aragon Grand Prix. The MotorLand Aragon circuit will host two consecutive rounds of the Moto2 World Championship, starting with the 11th race of the season this Sunday. Jorge Martin and Tetsuta Nagashima will aim to continue the team’s history of good results at the track, where they were on the podium for the last three years.

The French Grand Prix ended prematurely for Jorge Martin, who suffered a crash on Lap 5 of the race when in the leading group. The Spaniard will seek to make amends this weekend at what is a home circuit for him. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider has strong results at the MotorLand Aragon track: a victory in 2018 and two pole positions in 2017 and 2018. Martin occupies the fifth position in the Moto2 World Championship with 79 points.

Tetsuta Nagashima finished in 21st position on race day at Le Mans. The Japanese heads to MotorLand with the intention of regaining the good feeling he had at the beginning of the season. He knows the track well and this will be his fifth consecutive Aragon Grand Prix. Nagashima is currently sixth in the overall standings with 72 points.

The 21-lap Moto2 Aragon Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday at 12:20 pm local time. Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 have won at the circuit in both 2019 and 2018 with Brad Binder and in 2017 took the third position with Miguel Oliveira.

88 JORGE MARTIN

“MotorLand Aragon is a track at which I ride well and that I also like. In the past, I have achieved a victory in Moto3 there and I have also taken several pole positions. Last year, in a difficult season for me, I also claimed a good result, finishing the race in the Top 10. For this reason I think we can have a great performance this weekend. I am looking forward to the Grand Prix and to getting back to work with the team.”

45 TETSUTA NAGASHIMA

“We have changed the mentality for this weekend in order to regain the feeling we had at the beginning of the season. We haven’t had much time between one race and another, but over these next few days we will work hard to try to achieve that goal. If we succeed, I know we can be fighting for the top positions again. I will give my one hundred percent once more.”
