Red Bull KTM Ajo to field Fernandez and Masia as 2021 Moto3 line-up

The team is pleased to announce the signing of Jaume Masia for next season in Moto3, alongside the renewed Raul Fernandez.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 are excited to announce a 2021 line-up which will once again feature rider Raul Fernandez, accompanied by new addition Jaume Masia. Both riders are considered to be promising talents in international racing and they have regularly shown their solid pace throughout this season. In the pairing of Fernandez and Masia, who are both 19 years old, the team will have one of the most promising line-ups on the 2021 Moto3 World Championship grid.

In his first season with the team, Raul Fernandez has proven to be talented and competitive, achieving three pole positions and enjoying some positive race results. Furthermore, he was previously the winner of the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship in 2018. Next year, the Spanish star will continue at Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 for his third full season as a World Championship rider.

Jaume Masia began his career in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and the FIM CEV, achieving great results in both competitions. Despite his young age, he has considerable experience: he debuted in the Moto3 World Championship at just 16 years old and he is now in his third full season, with five podiums to his name – including a victory at the 2019 Argentine Grand Prix, a round at which he also took his first pole position.

The skills and youth of both are the perfect combination for Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 in their quest to develop and train new talents. In line with this objective, recently we’ve seen two riders who formed part of Red Bull KTM Ajo – Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira – move up to the premier class and achieve great accomplishments.

Aki Ajo – Team manager
“I am very happy with our Moto3 line-up for next year. This season we have made great strides forward with Raul [Fernandez] and I am sure that in the remainder of the 2020 we will continue to progress. I am confident that he will be one of the top riders in the class. Our latest incorporation, Jaume Masia, has already proven to be one of the most competitive riders in Moto3. He is young, but has extensive experience – which is without a doubt positive. We definitely have a strong pairing for 2021.”

Raul Fernandez – Rider
“My first season with the team has been positive overall. We have achieved several pole positions and we have been fighting for victories. In general, I am very happy. Aki Ajo is one of the people who helps me the most in my day to day life and in my sporting career. I hope I can work with him for many more years, because I think he is a wise person and makes me improve. My second season with Red Bull KTM Ajo will be even more fun, because I will have a little more experience – which I think is what we are lacking now. It will be a great 2021.”

Jaume Masia – Rider
“Being part of Red Bull KTM Ajo is a great chance in terms of growth. Having people like Aki Ajo and KTM by my side is a remarkable source of support and, above all, a very good opportunity to develop as a rider. In terms of objectives, I think that being among the Top 3 is a realistic and achievable goal, but we will only know when next season starts and we can see where we are. It will be important to feel comfortable with the bike from the start in order to achieve great things that befit our team. I can’t wait to start working with all of them, and for this to be reflected in the results.”
