Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 look to end the first half of 2021 with good result

23/06/2021

Pedro Acosta and Jaume Masia are ready for the Dutch Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2021 Moto3 World Championship season.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 have a date with the legendary Assen circuit this weekend, as the venue hosts the 90th edition of the Dutch GP. Pedro Acosta and Jaume Masia intend to close the first half of the season with a positive result, heading into the summer break. The good performances by both riders in the previous eight rounds this campaign have allowed the structure to lead both the Rider and Teams standings.

In Germany last weekend, Acosta put on a masterclass to win a close race in intelligent fashion. The Spaniard continues an excellent rookie season, in which he has already accumulated 4 wins and a podium. He is familiar with Assen from his time in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in 2019, in which he managed to place second. Acosta is currently the leader of the Moto3 World Championship with 145 points.

Masia arrives at Assen with some unfinished business from Sachsenring, where he climbed 17 places in the race but crashed out midway through the contest. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider has prior experience at this weekend’s venue and is targeting a strong finish going into the summer break. Masia is third in the overall standings with 72 points.

The Moto3 Dutch GP takes place on Sunday at 11 AM local time. Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 have wins at Assen through Luis Salom and Miguel Oliveira in 2013 and 2015, respectively, as well as a second and a third place for Sandro Cortese and Danny Kent, respectively, in 2012.

“I have a positive mindset and I am really looking forward to starting the Grand Prix. As at previous rounds, the goal is to work hard from the first Free Practice on Friday. We’re going to focus to find the best setup from the beginning, and we will see how the weekend unfolds. For the contest, the goal is to be in the top positions.”

37 PEDRO ACOSTA

“We have to be content with the first half of the season that we have had so far. However, there are points to improve on for the second part of the campaign. Our goal for this weekend is once again to have fun every time we go out on track. Assen is a circuit where I really enjoyed myself in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, although it has some difficult sectors. As always, we will put in one hundred percent effort and work hard to adapt well to the track.”
