Masia and Holgado motivated for Qatar Grand Prix

02/03/2022

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders are back in action this weekend at the Lusail International Circuit, for the opening round of the 2022 season.

The wait is over and the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 are ready for the start of the 2022 campaign this weekend, with the Qatar Grand Prix taking place at the Lusail International Circuit. Both of the team’s riders arrive well prepared after some positive and intense pre-season work. Jaume Masia begins what will be his second year with the team, wanting to continue as one of the standouts in the class. Teammate Dani Holgado comes into his first full season as a World Championship rider.

During pre-season testing, Masia did a great job together with his team, as they looked to get the KTM Moto3 bike ready for the upcoming campaign. This week, the Spanish rider travels to Qatar to start the 2022 season at a circuit where he won a year ago. Masia will try to take advantage of all his talent and experience to fight for great results in his second season with the Red Bull KTM Ajo.

Holgado enjoyed a positive pre-season, despite discomfort caused by a recent operation to treat a multifragmentary fracture in his left tibia. He showed a quick adaptation both to the class and to the team’s working philosophy and starts his first full season in the World Championship at a circuit where he has not ridden before. The main objective for the Red Bull KTM Ajo rookie will be to learn and improve every day.

The 18-lap Moto3 Grand Prix of Qatar will take place on Sunday at 3 PM, local time. Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 have previously been on the podium at the Lusail International Circuit with a one-two finish for Masia and Pedro Acosta in 2021, followed by a victory for Acosta that same year.

#5 JAUME MASIA

“We arrive in Qatar with a lot of work done during the pre-season tests. We are really looking forward to being back at the circuits. We are starting the season with a lot of enthusiasm and I’m sure that we’ll do the best that we can. The Lusail circuit hasn’t been one of my favourites, but I have good memories of last year there and we will try to repeat the same result.”

#96 DANI HOLGADO

“I’m really looking forward to getting started, because it’s going to be the first race of the season and I’m facing it with ambition and the enthusiasm to do my best. We’ll take things step-by-step and lap-by-lap because it’s a new circuit for me. I hope to adapt as quickly as possible, so that I can be competitive and improve. The goal in my first full year is to learn a lot for next season, but I also want to enjoy myself and fight as much as we can.”
