Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 retain Team World Champions title

The Moto2 team win their third such title, a second in a row.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2, with riders Augusto Fernandez and Pedro Acosta, ended a great 2022 season by becoming the top team in the Moto2 class for the second year in a row. After a season in which a total of 21 races were held, the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia rounded off a great year for the team headed by Aki Ajo.

The quality and hard work involved have been reflected in the results during the season: seven victories and eleven podiums. The first victory for Red Bull KTM Ajo in 2022 came for Fernandez at the French Grand Prix, whilst Acosta was the winner just one race later to open his account in the intermediate class.

Fernandez had a run of four consecutive podiums in Catalunya, Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain, winning the last three of those Grands Prix. The German round was one of the highlights of the year, with the first one-two for the team. The two riders shared the podium again at the Aragon Grand Prix, when Acosta won and Fernandez took third.

In the final stretch of the year, the pair continued to take good results. Fernandez’ podiums in San Marino and Japan (third and second) were followed by Acosta’s rostrum finish at the Australian Grand Prix.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 team ended the season in the best possible way, with another double podium in Valencia. Pedro Acosta finished first, taking his third win of the year and Augusto Fernandez finished second. In this way they become the champion team with 448.5 points, 7 victories and 11 podiums.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 team have been crowned Team World Champions for the second consecutive season, after the 2021 honour won by Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez (24 podiums, 13 wins). In addition, in the last five years the team have won three team World Champion titles (2022, 2021 and 2018) and always finished the season in the Top 3.
