Albert Arenas progresses to place in Jerez test Top 5

02/05/2023

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 rider finishes the day in fifth position.

Albert Arenas had a useful day of testing at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto on Tuesday, and the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider had a very good feeling during the two sessions he contested. He would claim the fifth best time overall.

The test featured perfect track conditions, ideal for Arenas to take a step forward and improve for the coming races in the Moto2 World Championship. He had finished the Spanish Grand Prix in eighth position and came away from the race with clear ideas about what to work on in testing. Arenas used only the first two sessions of the day and was very consistent from the start, placing in the Top 5 in both. After completing 53 laps overall, he was fifth on the combined timesheets with a 1:41.362, less than a tenth of a second off the leader.

Arenas will return to action alongside his teammate Pedro Acosta, who sat out the Jerez test, next week at the French Grand Prix.

“The test was satisfactory for us. We took the opportunity to improve our feeling and to continue creating a solid base for the next Grand Prix. With the data from the Spanish Grand Prix and this test, we have taken a big step forward. I want to thank the team for all their work, as I feel more and more comfortable with them and my confidence with the bike has increased every weekend. I leave this test very happy, although we are still firmly focused on the next Grand Prix.”
