Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 target success at Sachsenring
14/06/2023Deniz Öncü and Jose Anotnio Rueda compete in the seventh race of the season.
Following on from the Italian Grand Prix, the Red Bull KTM Ajo team move on to Germany to contest the second Grand Prix of three in consecutive weekends. Deniz Öncü will seek to continue his positive results after getting on the podium at Mugello, whilst Jose Antonio Rueda faces the demanding Sachsenring circuit aiming to continue improving.
Öncü had his best weekend to date in Italy, leading the way from start to finish in practice and coming close to victory at Mugello, where he was just 0.051s away from clinching the win. At Sachsenring he already has podium experience, specifically from last year when he finished in third place. Öncü also moved up in the standings this past week, and is sixth with 53 points.
Rueda arrives in Germany with new objectives after a difficult weekend at Mugello. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rookie gave it his all despite not finding a good feeling during the weekend, and returned to the points-scoring positions at the Italian Grand Prix after missing out for the first time this year at Le Mans. Rueda is ninth in the overall standings with 39 points, and remains in the the fight for Rookie of the Year honours after a strong start to the campaign.
The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team achieved victory at the Sachsenring with Pedro Acosta in 2021. With 92 points, they are fourth in the overall team standings. The 23-lap Moto3 German Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, June 18th at 11 AM local time.
#53 DENIZ ÖNCÜ
“Now it’s time for the German GP. I’m happy with the rider-team combination and we have another weekend to enjoy ourselves, especially after the last round at Mugello. I left it all out there to go for the victory, it wasn’t to be that time. However, we got our first podium of the season and that is very positive”.
#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA
“We are motivated for this weekend’s race. We know what to do to stay ahead and improve compared to at Mugello, where I didn’t feel completely comfortable. I can’t wait for this Grand Prix to start and to start giving it my best from Friday. We are going to face this weekend in the best possible way to continue adding points and progressing.”
