23/10/2024

Celestino Vietti and Deniz Öncü face the next round of the season at Buriram.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 riders are already in Thailand for the eighteenth round on the Moto2 calendar. After a difficult race in Australia, Deniz Öncü wants to turn things around and get back to good results after the progress made in recent weeks. Celestino Vietti will have to undergo a medical checkup to clear him to participate.

Vietti was unable to complete the Australian Grand Prix, ending his weekend earlier than expected after suffering a spectacular crash in Free Practice on Friday. The Italian rider has a small fracture in his left shoulder and will have to undergo a medical check on Thursday. Vietti is eighth overall, with 140 points.

Öncü improved his form at Phillip Island, despite the difficult conditions experienced all weekend. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider was forced to fight back in the race, recovering 10 positions on the first lap. Unfortunately, a crash while competing for the Top10 prevented him from scoring any points, but he remains in contention to be the best rookie in the intermediate class. Öncü is focused on giving his best in Thailand to get back to the front positions. With 34 points, he is 20th in the overall standings.

Red Bull KTM Ajo are seventh in the Team standings with 174 points. In 2023, Pedro Acosta was on the podium in Thailand for the team, finishing second, as was Brad Binder in 2019. In 2018, Miguel Oliveira placed third. The Thai Grand Prix race will take place on Sunday at 1:15 pm local time.

“Last weekend, unfortunately I had a crash on the Friday. I am physically improving, so hopefully these days off will make me get better quicker. We will see what happens on Thursday after the medical check. Let’s stay positive.”

“We are heading to Thailand. We are, as always, very optimistic. The AustralianGP weekend was quite tough for us, but especially in Sunday’s race, we understood a lot of things. My goal is always to try to do my best, so I will fight for that.”
