Rueda and Carpe arrive at Mugello to start first double-header of the season
18/06/2025The Italian Grand Prix will be the first of two consecutive race weekends for Red Bull KTM Ajo, who will travel to the Netherlands after.
After an exciting weekend at MotorLand, Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 are preparing for their first double-header of the season, which will begin at Mugello, a track Jose Antonio Rueda and Alvaro Carpe knows very well. The Italian Grand Prix will be the ninth round of the season, and will be followed by the Dutch TT a week later.
Moto3 World Championship leader Rueda arrives at Mugello aiming to achieve a strong result at a track where he has not had the best of racedays. In 2023, he finished 14th in the race, while last year he achieved 15th place after suffering a minor crash while riding in the lead group. However, in 2024 he was fast and in the Top 5 throughout the weekend, even securing a spot on the front row of the grid. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider wants to improve the result of MotorLand in aim to stay closer to the podium again. At the Aragon GP, he could only manage eighth after being the man to beat all weekend, including taking Pole Position. After eight Grands Prix, Rueda remains first in the standings, with 149 points, 52 more than his closest rival.
Carpe arrives in Italy in his best form of the season. After two consecutive fourth places at unfamiliar tracks in Le Mans and Silverstone, he was able to score his second podium of the season in Aragon. At Mugello, he will return to a circuit where he has already raced in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, with two third places last year. He also finished in the Top 8 in both 2023 rounds, during his debut season. Carpe arrives in Tuscany in fourth place in the overall standings with 85 points, just one point shy of third place, and is the top rookie in the class.
Red Bull KTM Ajo arrives to Mugello with the aim of remaining on the top of the standings, including the team’s one, which leads with 234 points. In the last ten seasons, the team have achieved two victories and two podiums at the Italian Grand Prix. The wins went to Miguel Oliveira (2015) and Brad Binder (2016), while the podium finishes -both second places- were achieved by Jaume Masia (2021) and Deniz Öncü (2023).
The on-track action at the #ItalianGP will begin on Friday at 9am (local time) with the first Moto3 Free Practice session. On Sunday, the 17-lap race will start at 11am (local time).
#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA
“We’re arriving at Mugello, which is a circuit I’m good at, although we haven’t been able to finish that off in a race so far. We’ll have to continue doing the same work we’ve done at previous Grands Prix and give it our all to be in the fight for the top positions. We’ll try to enjoy it as much as possible and try to have a good Sunday, which is what has been the hardest part for us in previous editions of the Italian GP.”
#83 ALVARO CARPE
“We’re coming to Mugello, a very fast circuit with a very long straight. The podium at Aragon motivates us to keep working and improving, whilst in great form already. We’re on the right way, so we have to be consistent every weekend to be able to aspire to even more. We’ll work hard on our strategy this weekend to be competitive in Sunday’s race, which is never easy in Italy.”
