Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 face first Grand Prix at Balaton Park in Hungary

20/08/2025

Rueda and Carpe will visit the new track to complete a double header of race weekends after the AustrianGP.

Red Bull KTM Ajo face the fourteenth round of the 2025 Moto3 season this weekend, with their first ever visit to the new Balaton Park circuit. The venue held its maiden event several weeks ago, and after the WSBK round it is the turn of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Jose Antonio Rueda and Alvaro Carpe will try to return to the podium.

Rueda will look to maintain his lead at the top of the overall standings. At the end of a difficult weekend in Austria, he managed to complete the race in fifth place, just 5-tenths of a second behind winner Angel Piqueras -his closest rival in the series. With no previous experience at Balaton Park, he faces a weekend of challenges for the entire field on a short, narrow, and highly technical track with tight corners. Rueda has 239 points overall, 71 more than Piqueras.

Carpe also wants to bounce back from a difficult weekend at Red Bull Ring, where despite achieving seventh place on the grid and tenth in the race, he struggled more than expected on a track previously favourable to him. Now he visits another circuit with which he is unfamiliar -a common occurrence for Carpe in the first part of the season. Level on points with Maximo Quiles in the fight for the Rookie of the Year award, he is currently fifth in the overall standings with 139 points.

So, this will be a completely new Grand Prix for all Moto3 riders and teams in Hungary. With seven wins and twelve podiums in thirteen races to date in 2025, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team will be looking to make a strong impression on their first visit to Balaton Park. The action begins with Friday’s Free Practice 1 at 9am. (local time). Sunday’s 20-lap race will take place at 11am.

#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA

“We’re coming to a new track for everyone, so we’ll have to start from scratch as always -except that we don’t know anything about this circuit and we don’t have any previous data. We’ll have to take it step by step, with patience. It will be vital to gather as much information as possible to be as prepared as we can for Sunday. I’m looking forward to getting to know the circuit, its characteristics, the asphalt, and everything that it entails. The Hungarian GP is the second race of the double header, so we’re ready to arrive there and start working to be as close to victory as possible.”

#83 ALVARO CARPE

“We’re arriving at Balaton Park, which is a new track for all of us. It’s unusual because no one has been able to test there before, so we’ll all be even, with no advantages for anybody. It will be key to adapt as quickly as possible. We have to work well from the start, without making mistakes that could hinder our weekend, and be consistent. Last week we struggled a little more in Austria, but I’m convinced that in Hungary we’ll find the solution and be able to get back on track with good results.”
