Brian Uriarte signs for Red Bull KTM Ajo to partner Alvaro Carpe in Moto3 for 2026

22/09/2025

The Red Bull Rookies Cup champion and FIM JuniorGP leader joins the team to continue his career as a KTM GP Academy rider.

Brian Uriarte will be part of Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Moto3 project from 2026, as the recent winner of the 2025 Red Bull Rookies Cup and contender for the FIM JuniorGP title will partner Alvaro Carpe on the team. With the aiming to keep alive the Red Bull Rookies Cup programme, from which he became champion just over a week ago, Uriarte will take another step up as a KTM GP Academy rider: making his debut in the Moto3™ World Championship.

The Spanish rider could still claim another crown before the end of 2025: the FIM JuniorGP. After yesterday’s victory and second place in Misano, he has 5 wins and 6 podiums in 8 races contested to date aboard the KTM RC4, giving him a 62-point lead in the standings with only two rounds remaining and 100 points at stake. Previously, both his new teammate, Alvaro Carpe, and the Moto3 team’s outgoing rider Jose Antonio Rueda, won the Red Bull Rookies Cup and the JuniorGP titles before moving on to the world stage, in 2022 and 2024.

Uriarte previously fought for the Red Bull Rookies Cup title in 2024, with eventual champion Carpe. In JuniorGP last year, he was only able to compete in the final five rounds due to the competition’s age limit, which he didn’t reached until the Jerez round – where he achieved a win and a second place finish. With a fourth, a fifth, and a seventh place in the final three rounds, Uriarte was able to finish tenth in the standings despite missing more than half of the season.

After all, Uriarte will meet up with Carpe again to form one of the strongest lineups in the class for 2026. Although riding at largely unfamiliar circuits in 2025, Carpe has three podium finishes, a Pole Position, and remains in the running for Rookie of the Year trophy. He also holds fifth place overall. Furthermore, the young Spanish rider has not only demonstrated speed throughout 2025, but also consistency and maturity properly of a much more experienced rider: by the moment, he has finished 15 of the 16 races, all of them in the points and 13 in the Top 10. Only in Argentina he scored zero points, after crashing on the last lap while fighting for victory. In other words, of all the race laps contested in 2025, Alvaro has completed all but one, which speaks very well about him in his World Champhionship rookie year.

Red Bull KTM Ajo bring together two of the greatest talents to emerge from the KTM GP Academy in recent years. Similar to the Moto2 team with Collin Veijer and Jose Antonio Rueda, this season’s lineup will be made up of the structure’s ‘homegrown’ riders -and between the ages of 18 and 20. This milestone is considered a proud achievement for the team and the factory, and demonstrates the commitment to providing opportunities and ongoing training to highly skilled riders with a promising future, such as Uriarte and Carpe.

NIKLAS AJO – Team Manager

“We’re extremely happy to sign Brian for our Moto3 team in 2026. We’ve been keeping a close eye on him for many years, and he has shown that he’s one of the most promising and talented riders of his generation, being able to come through the Red Bull Rookies Cup, fighting for the title in 2024 and winning it in 2025. We’re very proud to have him on board in our project and hope that we have a bright future working together. Also, we’re very happy to continue with Alvaro next year as well. He has come into the World Championship with great results this year and has shown a lot of maturity and speed despite his young age. With the experience gained from this year we can expect a lot from him next year. We’re very pleased to have these two great riders in our team and I believe we have one of the strongest lineups in Moto3 for next year.”

#51 BRIAN URIARTE

“I’m very proud to be part of the Red Bull KTM Ajo family. First of all, I would like to thank Aki, Niklas and all at KTM and Red Bull for giving me this opportunity. Right now, it’s the best team on the grid, as you can see from the results they are achieving and their history over the years, and it has always been a dream to join this team. I’m very happy to have won the Red Bull Rookies Cup title, and we still have some FIM JuniorGP rounds on the horizon, which will help me to keep preparing for this new stage of my career. I would also like to thank everyone who has contributed to this, especially Emilio Alzamora, my family and the sponsors, for all the work they are doing for me. I can’t wait to get on the bike for the first time and meet the new team!”

#83 ALVARO CARPE

“I’m very excited to be able to have another year with the entire Red Bull KTM Ajo team. I’m happy to be staying here to continue improving, evolving, and growing as a rider. So far, things are going well for us, but we want more, and we know that nowhere else will we be better for that than here. We want to continue working the same way we have been with the entire team and set more ambitious goals that will allow us to fight for great results -and even the title. I’ve felt very welcomed here from day one and very comfortable with the entire team; it’s a close-knit group that could be my second family right now. I’m happy to continue for another year and very grateful for the trust placed in me by Aki, Niklas, and the rest of the team.”
