Veijer finishes eighth at Mandalika and secures his fifth Top 10 finish in the last six races

05/10/2025

The Dutchman continues to make steady progress in his adaptation to the category with another consistent weekend. Muñoz, after a difficult race, had to settle for 17th place.

Collin Veijer claimed an eighth place finish at the Indonesian Grand Prix, recovering from a difficult start to move up the order and achieve his fifth Top 10 result in the last six race weekends. Daniel Muñoz was held up by traffic in the middle of the pack and came home in 17th place at Mandalika.

Track temperatures were up to 60°C and humidity reached 75% for the Moto2 race -the most extreme conditions of the weekend.

Veijer had started from seventh on the grid, but did not get off the line well and dropped down to 13th. After losing another position, he rode on his own to slowly make up ground and try to catch the group fighting for the Top 5. However, by the time he had a clear track in which to establish his pace, the gap to the chasing pack was already too large. Managing his pace well, Veijer was able to make it to the final stretch in good shape -despite the difficult conditions. He was able to catch the seventh-place finisher on the final lap of the race, but ran out of time to overtake him. Placing in the Top 10 for the fifth race out of a possible six, he now has 53 points and remains 19th in the overall standings.

Muñoz ended a consistent weekend of progress at Mandalika with a disappointing race result. The Spaniard suffered more than he had expected, finding himself in the middle of the main pack during the contest. Starting from 17th place, he lost several positions, dropping to 21st on the third lap. From then on, Muñoz was able to steady his pace and climb up the order. More than five seconds off the points, he had little chance of reeling in those riders, and battled with Arbolino for 16th place until the end. He eventually finished 17th at the Indonesian Grand Prix, and is 20th in the Moto2 class standings thanks to his points earned in the absence of regular Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Deniz Öncü.

In conclusion, it was a positive Sunday for Red Bull KTM Ajo in Moto2, with eight more points for the overall standings and a lot more experience to take into the final four rounds of the season. With 176 points, Red Bull KTM Ajo maintain eighth place in the Team standings. After a week off, the next flyaway double-header begins at Phillip Island with the Australian Grand Prix, from November 17-19th.

NIKLAS AJO – Team Manager

“The weekend started very well on Friday, with both riders showing a lot of speed, especially in Practice. However, on Saturday, for some reason, we were struggling a little bit more. Dani wasn’t able to show his speed in Qualifying but n the other hand, Collin was able to on his last lap, but in general, it was a difficult day. Today, Collin’s start wasn’t the best, but at the end of the race he showed quite strong pace, and we’re very happy with his performance on the closing laps. Fighting with Jake Dixon and finishing in eighth is a good result. Dani suffered a littlebit from the start and couldn’t recover as expected but in any case he was able to set good laptimes during the race. We’re really looking forward to Australia to make a another step.”

#95 COLLIN VEIJER

“It was not the best start by me, once again. I let the clutch out too much and I lost a lot of time there. After that, I tried my best to make a comeback as well as I could, so eighth was the maximum we could achieve today. I’m happy with the job that we did this weekend. Today we made a big improvement in general, and we only made a mistake at the start. We need to put it all together to see where we can be in a perfect race, but it was a good Sunday anyway. I’m confident about how things are going at the moment, so Australia awaits us now. It will be interesting to ride there, so I’m very motivated to try to keep the momentum up.”

#17 DANIEL MUÑOZ

“It wasn’t a good Sunday today. It was a difficult race, after a weekend in which we started out very well. We didn’t quite find our feet, starting with qualifying yesterday, but I want to once again thank the entire team for their hard work and trust. Now it’s time to analyse why this happened so it doesn’t happen again. We’re learning and we know that not every weekend is going to be like the one in Barcelona, so this is part of the process. This is a time to continue gaining experience of all kinds. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate my teammate and friend Jose Antonio for his great season and the title he so richly deserves.”
