Carpe and Uriarte start a busy fortnight for the Moto3 World Championship, with AustrianGP after the visit to San Marino.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders Alvaro Carpe and Brian Uriarte are back in action this weekend for the penultimate European double-header of 2026, which gets underway in San Marino and continues in Austria the following week.

Carpe is eyeing a spot in the Top 3 on race day -a position he could not maintain at the Aragon Grand Prix despite a strong weekend. After a hard-fought second place at Silverstone, he was unable to keep his podium streak going, although he was one of the four contenders battling for the win throughout the Sunday. On previous visits to Misano, the venue for this weekend’s round, the Spaniard finished tenth last year in the Moto3 World Championship, and placed on the rostrum in three of the four races he contested as a Red Bull Rookies Cup rider there -winning one of them. He also clinched the title in that series with second place at Misano in 2024. In the Moto3 standings, he has 159 points and is second overall.

Uriarte is the series’ top rookie, and fourth overall with 138 points. He arrives at Misano off a tricky weekend at MotorLand: A Long Lap penalty he incurred during practice caused him to lose contact with the leading group in the race, and he had to battle his way back to place fifth with a strong and consistent pace. In spite of his newcomer status in the Moto3 World Championship, he knows Misano well, as he contested four Red Bull Rookies Cup races there -with two wins, one second place, and one third place. Also he clinched the 2025 title there, so his fondest memories are very recent there. He also took a victory and a second place in JuniorGP at the circuit last season.

In short, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will be the fourteenth round of the championship, the penultimate one before the overseas in Asia and Oceania begins. Red Bull KTM Ajo currently have 297 points in the Team standings. Their successes at Misano include two victories and three podium finishes in the past: Wins for Brad Binder (2016) and Jose Antonio Rueda (2026) -this one with a last corner overtake-; second places for Miguel Oliveira (2015) and Jaume Masia (2022); and third place for Deniz Öncü (2023).

The first Free Practice session for the Moto3 World Championship riders will begin this Friday at 9:00 a.m. (local time). The 20-lap race will take place on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

“Misano is a track I really like and have very fond memories of, especially from the Red Bull Rookies Cup. We’ve had some very good weekends recently, particularly in Aragon, where we just lacked a bit of competitiveness on the last two laps. Now, in San Marino, we’ll try to refine those details with our tyre management to be even more competitive. We’re motivated and confident, so we need to maintain the level of work we’ve had and take that step forward by fine-tuning details that could ultimately make the difference.”

“Misano is a circuit I really like. I won JuniorGP and Rookies races there, as well as the title in that series last year, so I have very good memories of the track. That’s always an extra motivation. I’m approaching the weekend with a lot of confidence, so we’re going to go all-out. It looks like the weather conditions will be somewhat adverse there, so we’ll have to adapt to whatever we find. We’re competitive in both dry and wet conditions, so we’re ready for anything.”
