Ajo Motorsport rider takes eighth at Aragon Grand Prix to keep lead with four rounds remaining.

Johann Zarco finished eighth at the fourteenth round of the Moto2 World Championship held today at MotorLand Aragon. The Ajo Motorsport rider, who had started from fifth position, thus manages to keep hold of the series lead despite struggling in the race.
The World Championship leader had a tough start and was relegated to tenth position off the line, in a group with four other riders. During the opening laps he remained in that position until gradually improving his pace, allowing him to fight back and placed ninth with 10 laps to go. Zarco would gain another position before crossing the finish line, to conclude the Aragon GP in eighth.
Following this result, the Frenchman has 202 points to his name in the overall standings –just 1 more than his nearest rival. The next round of the season takes place on October 16th at Motegi, Japan.

We are enjoying a great battle for the title between Johann and Rins, but perhaps other riders like Lowes could come back into it and have a chance. 5 JOHANN ZARCO “The aim for this weekend was to finish in front of Alex [Rins], to extend the lead in the World Championship, but it was not to be. It’s a shame, because I had felt very comfortable during practice, but in the race the feeling was different. I did not want to risk too much at first, because I knew I had better pace with used tyres, but when we reached that point it was not good enough. It was difficult even to follow the group, but I was hoping to fight on the final laps. However, when I wanted to overtake I lost a few tenths. We need to keep thinking positively and face the coming three race in a row –which will be very hard– with confidence.”
