Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider crashes out due to contact from a rival, when fighting for the podium positions.

After a good Friday and his best qualifying session of the year on Saturday, Darryn Binder suffered disappointment on Sunday at the Thai GP. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider was hit by another rider on the fourth lap, crashing out of the race when in the battle for the top positions.

Starting from sixth -his best grid position in the Moto3 World Championship to date- Binder had an excellent initial lap, moving into fourth on the opening corner. He was up into second at the end of Laps 2 and 3, but on the following time around the Chang International Circuit he was hit when another rider crashed and his day came to a premature conclusion.

After this first Thai GP in Buriram, the Moto3 World Championship continues it’s tour of Asia with the Japanese GP at Twin Ring Motegi, on October 21st. Darryn Binder is currently 22nd in the overall standings with 28 points.

“It was a shame about the incident involving Darryn [Binder] and another rider that ended in the crash. It had been a positive weekend from Friday afternoon onwards, Darryn found a good feeling on the bike and did a good job. Today in the race, as always at circuits with tight braking points, anything can happen and this time we were unlucky. In any case, the hard work and the speed he has shown these past three days have been positive.”

“Unfortunately the race was over much sooner than expected for us. I started from sixth position and I made a good start, getting into the top positions. We were unlucky, and on the fourth lap I crashed. I went wide and when I got back on track there was an incident with another rider. It’s a shame, because until then I felt very good and very strong. I thought I could have a very good race. It’s time to gather all the positive points of this weekend together and take that to Japan.”
