Raul and Kaito ready to continue taking steps forward at Misano

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders travel to San Marino to face their second three-race run of the season.

After a two-week break, Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 go back on the road, heading to San Marino, where the San Marino Grand Prix will be held this weekend. The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will host two consecutive races, starting with the seventh round of the Moto3 World Championship on Sunday. Raul Fernandez and Kaito Toba are ready and motivated to keep improving and fighting for the top positions.

After his eighth place at the Styrian Grand Prix, Raul Fernandez is one of only two riders to have scored points at every contest so far. The Spaniard started from the front row of the grid at the last three rounds – twice from pole position – and showed great consistency in practice. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider faces the challenge of the San Marino round with enthusiasm and with a previous podium there from 2015 – when he finished second in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup contest.

Kaito Toba has great motivation to keep progressing and gaining experience with his Moto3 KTM bike, and to maintain a consistent and competitive pace. The 20-year-old knows Misano well and, like his teammate, has been on the podium there in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup – taking third place in 2016.

The 23-lap Moto3 race will be held on Sunday, September 13th at 11 am local time. Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 have previous podiums at Misano courtesy of the victories for Sandro Cortese (2012) and Brad Binder (2016), as well as a third place with Jack Miller in 2014 and a second place with Miguel Oliveira in 2015.

25 RAUL FERNANDEZ

“I am happy with the progress we are making this season. From this point on, a different championship is beginning for me, because the circuits that we go to now suit my riding style much better. San Marino is a track that I like and where I have gone well in the past. For this reason, I am facing the weekend with a positive mind-set. I have prepared a lot – mentally and physically – to be able to endure three consecutive races in good shape, so I’m going to do my best to get strong results. Finishing contests in the Top 5 is our goal this year.”

27 KAITO TOBA

“I can’t wait to get back to racing, especially at Misano – a circuit that I like and where I feel good. I am motivated for this three-race run, in which both the team and I are going to work very hard to be able to fight to be at the front and obtain good results.”
