Martin and Nagashima are ready for the last triple-header of the year, starting with the European Grand Prix at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.

The 2020 season, one of the most demanding in history, moves closer to its finale with the Red Bull KTM Ajo taking on a fourth triple-header of consecutive races. The first event up is the European Grand Prix this weekend, for which Jorge Martin and Tetsuta Nagashima will travel to the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia. The duo will work hard to continue the success that the team have had at the track – where they have won for the past three years in Moto2.

In the two rounds held in Aragon, Martin had a solid showing, taking a third and a sixth place, respectively. The Spaniard has fond memories of Valencia, where he achieved his first Grand Prix victory in 2017 from the pole in the Moto3 race and claimed second position in 2018. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider currently occupies fifth place in the Moto2 World Championship, with 105 points.

Nagashima made a great comeback at the Teruel GP, climbing 14 positions to finish 14th, despite an incident with another rider at the beginning of the race. The Japanese has been feeling good at recent races and he hopes that this continues this weekend, at a circuit he knows well: the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider holds a win in Valencia, in the 2016 Moto2 European Championship. Nagashima is 7th in the overall standings, with 81 points.

The 25-lap Moto2 European Grand Prix will take place on Sunday at 12:20 pm local time. Red Bull KTM Ajo have achieved Moto2 victory at the track for the last three years: in 2017 and 2018 with Miguel Oliveira and in 2019 with Brad Binder.

“I feel prepared for this latest races. It’s a track that I love. In addition, in 2017 I got my first Grand Prix victory there, so it is a circuit that I always come to with great enthusiasm. It will be difficult, since everyone goes fast in Valencia. We must also bear in mind that the temperature will be very low. However, I am sure that we will do a great job.”

“We will concentrate on improving our performance in practice at this Grand Prix, so that we can start higher up on the grid on race day. The feeling I have is improving little by little, so if we manage to be strong from the beginning of the weekend we could be fighting for higher positions.

I won here in 2016 when I was competing in the Moto2 European Championship in the FIM CEV, so that is an added motivation for this contest. Hopefully we can fight for podiums again.”
