Pedro Acosta and Jaume Masia go straight into Q2 and earn spots on the third and fifth row of the grid, respectively.

The starting grid for the Aragon Grand Prix was decided in qualifying at MotorLand on Saturday, with the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders putting in solid performances. Both improved their times from Friday in FP3 and ensured a spot directly into Q2. Finally, Pedro Acosta qualified on the third row of the grid, in ninth, with Jaume Masia on the fifth row, in fifteenth.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 pair started the day in top form in a dry Free Practice 3. Pedro Acosta surged at the end of the session, and on his last attempt of 13 clocked a 1:58.432 for ninth place. Jaume Masia finished in 11th position after setting a time of 1:58.479, also putting in 13 laps of the Spanish track.

That good work put them straight into Qualifying 2, in which Acosta rode similar times to those he set in Free Practice 3. A 1:58.434 placed him ninth, on the third row of the Aragon Grand Prix grid. Masia was 15th, courtesy of a 1:58.830, in a tight qualifying session, and tomorrow he’ll start the contest from the Row 5.

Tomorrow’s Moto3 Aragon Grand Prix gets underway at 11 AM local time and is set for 19 laps.

“I’m happy because this morning, in FP3, we took a step forward in terms of our feeling on the bike. In the afternoon, we went directly into Q2 and I also felt quite good in that session. We are at the same level as the riders who put in laps alone, and they have been the fastest during the weekend so far. The objective for tomorrow is to finish as high up as possible and be able to fight for the win.”
