Augusto Fernandez and Pedro Acosta are motivated for the Catalan Grand Prix, after good results obtained at recent rounds.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 are back in action this weekend for the ninth round of the 2022 season, the Catalan Grand Prix. The two riders have been in impressive form at the last two races, with Augusto Fernandez winning in France and Pedro Acosta doing likewise in Italy. The duo hope to maintain this run at a track where they had a productive two-day test just a month ago.

At the Italian Grand Prix, Fernandez pulled off an epic feat by climbing 19 positions in the race, going from 24th to 5th. He proved once again to be one of the riders to beat, showing great pace at Mugello. He comes into the Catalan round confident, as he and his crew enjoyed a positive test in Barcelona last month and gathered important data. Fernandez is sixth in the overall standings, with 80 points.

Last Sunday, Acosta got his first victory in the Moto2 class, dominating the race from start to finish. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider was very strong throughout the weekend, and always among the fastest in the field. Following the seventh Grand Prix win of his career, he travels to Barcelona to work together with his team to consolidate his adaptation to the class. Currently, Acosta occupies 10th position in the Moto2 World Championship with 45 points.

The Moto2 Catalan Grand Prix race will start at 12:20 PM local time on Sunday. Red Bull KTM Ajo have been on the podium at the track thanks to Miguel Oliveira – who was third in 2017 and second in 2018 -, and Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez – first and second, respectively, last year.

“Now it’s time to focus on the Catalan GP. I like this track a lot and we did positive races there in the past. We also completed a two-day test last month and it was really productive for us as we found some things that helped us in the last two rounds. It will be important to start the weekend well, work as we have been doing so far and keep scoring as many points as possible.”

“We’ve been doing a good job in the last races and finally the victory is the result of our effort. The first win in Moto2 means a lot to me but the most important thing is that we’re doing great and consistent work with the team. This weekend the objective is to continue working in the same way, as we did in the last contests. I like the Catalan circuit and I guess that it could suit me well with the Moto2 bike. We’ll give our best and try to complete a good weekend.”
