The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 duo travel to Assen for the Dutch Grand Prix, the last round before the summer break.

This weekend, the Moto3 World Championship field faces the final round of the first half of the 2022 season. Assen hosts the Dutch Grand Prix, Round 11 of the 2022 campaign, heading into a well-deserved summer break for the Red Bull KTM Ajo riders, Jaume Masia and Dani Holgado.

At the last round, held amidst stifling heat at Sachsenring in Germany, Masia fought hard to achieve 12th place in the race. He experienced the difficulties of starting far back on the grid, but thanks to a strong pace he managed to climb up the order. At Assen he will target a return to the tussle for the top positions at a track he knows well. Masia occupies fourth in the Moto3 World Championship with 107 points.

Holgado continues to show his speedy adaptation to Grand Prix racing, and for the German Grand Prix, he once again qualified on the front row of the grid. Race day saw the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rookie take a formidable sixth place, after fighting in the leading group for much of the contest. The task for him and his team this weekend will be to familiarise himself with a new track for him, having never visited Assen before. Holgado currently occupies 14th place in the overall standings, with 38 points.

The 22-lap Moto3 Dutch GP will take place at 11 AM local time on Sunday. Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 have previous wins at Assen through Luis Salom and Miguel Oliveira in 2013 and 2015, respectively, as well as a second and a third place for Sandro Cortese and Danny Kent in 2012.

“I have a positive mindset and I am really looking forward to starting the Grand Prix. As at previous rounds, the goal is to work hard from the first Free Practice on Friday. We’re going to focus to find the best setup from the beginning, and we will see how the weekend unfolds. For the contest, the goal is to be in the top positions.”

“It’s the last race before the summer break and, in general, our assessment of the first half of the season is a positive one. We have been progressing little by little and my feeling with the bike has been improving. Now it’s time to focus on Assen, a new circuit for me. From what I’ve seen, it’s quite fast, with very aggressive overtaking areas, but it looks fun and I’m looking forward to riding there. We will work hard with the team to adapt to the needs of the circuit. The objective is to finish the race in the best possible position, continue learning and enjoy ourselves before the summer break.”
