Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 aim to keep up good run at Aragon GP
28/08/2024Celestino Vietti and Deniz Öncü face the first race of the season’s latest double header.
Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 head to MotorLand Aragon for the twelfth round of the season this weekend. The Aragonese track returns to the calendar after a year away, and Celestino Vietti and Deniz Öncü want to continue fighting for good results there.
Vietti did not start the Austrian Grand Prix in the best way, suffering a big crash on Friday. However, the Italian rider bounced back to take pole position and lead the race from start to finish, achieving his long-awaited first victory of the season. He now has two podium finishes from the last three races, and wants to continue his good run of results in Aragon, where he came home in the Top 10 two seasons ago. With 96 points, he is sixth in the standings.
Öncü is feeling increasingly better after his positive return to competition at the Red Bull Ring. He went straight into Q2 and had his best weekend since his debut in the intermediate class, finishing the race in Austria in eleventh position. After the test carried out recently at MotorLand Aragon, he and his team are confident of getting a good result, and the Turkish rider has been on the podium before at this weekend’s venue. With 11 points, he is 21st overall.
Red Bull KTM Ajo are sixth in the team standings with 107 points. In the last race held at MotorLand Aragon, Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez were first and third respectively. In 2021, Raul Fernandez and Remy Gardner were first and second; while in 2020 Jorge Martin was third. The Moto2 Aragon Grand Prix racetakes place on Sunday at 12:15 p.m., and will be contested over 19 laps.

“After a really good weekend in Austria, I’m looking forward to starting afresh at Aragon. We did a test there two weeks ago with good results, so it could be a good weekend for us. Our goal is to continue with the good feeling and the good confidence we have with the bike. We want to keep improving and will give it our best.”#53 DENIZ ÖNCÜ
“We are heading to the Aragon GP after the Austrian GP, which was a positive weekend for us after my injury. It will be the second race back after two months of recovery but I’m feeling really good. We want to fight for at least for the Top 10 after the eleventh place in Austria. I’m very optimistic about this weekend and I think we can do really well.”
