Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 head into final stretch of season at Indonesia

25/09/2024

Celestino Vietti and Deniz Öncü are fully focused for the second round of a triple header.

Red Bull KTM Ajo have arrived in Indonesia for the next round on the Moto2 calendar. Celestino Vietti is coming off a great win at his home Grand Prix, whilst Deniz Öncü is looking to bounce back after a crash early in that race.

Vietti’s win at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was his second of the season. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider has made great progress in recent rounds and has podium form in Indonesia, where he finished second in 2022. The Italian has great confidence and consistency, something that will be key for an intense final stretch of the campaign. Vietti is eighth in the overall standings with 127 points.

Öncü did not have the finish to the last race at Misano that he had hoped for, after suffering a crash on the opening laps and struggling to get a good feeling throughout the weekend. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider arrives in Indonesia with renewed energy and eager to be competitive again, having demonstrated his talent at recent rounds. With 27 points he is 20th overall.

Red Bull KTM Ajo are sixth in the Teams standings with 154 points, and last year had rider Pedro Acosta win the Indonesian Grand Prix. The 22-lap Moto2 race will start at 1:15pm local time on Sunday.

#13 CELESTINO VIETTI
“We go to Indonesia super motivated. It’s a track that I liked so much in 2022, although I couldn’t ride there last year. I’m hoping for ‘normal’ weather, but we know how fast the conditions can change there. We have a good pace and confidence is high. We have to continue in this way to achieve the best we can do.”

#53 DENIZ ÖNCÜ
“We are heading to the second round of the triple header this weekend. On race day at Misano we had a crash, but I felt better than at the San Marino GP. I’m quite optimistic for this weekend. At the moment I am aiming to enjoy myself on the bike and get the best result possible. I will do my best and want to start this overseas series of races in a good way.”
