Rueda and Carpe head to Germany for eleventh Grand Prix of the season

09/07/2025

Red Bull KTM Ajo aim to complete the first half of the 2025 season with a strong performance at the Sachsenring.

Jose Antonio Rueda and Alvaro Carpe arrive at the Sachsenring, the shortest circuit on the calendar, as the 2025 Moto3 World Championship season reaches its halfway mark. After racking up ten podium finishes from the first ten rounds, Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 are the team to beat heading into the second double-header of the season.

Rueda, the series leader, has unfinished business at the Sachsenring after troubles in 2024 race. Fifth on the grid, the Spanish rider crashed out of the race at the end of the home straight while fighting for podium positions. In his first season in the World Championship, Rueda finished 13th at the German track, but he has more positive results there from his time in other championships: In two Red Bull Rookies Cup rounds in 2022, he won the first and placed fourth in the second. Last time out, in the Netherlands, the Red Bull KTM Ajo man claimed his fourth Pole Position of the year, going on to claim a sixth victory of the campaign. With 187 points, Rueda comfortably leads the Moto3 standings, 69 points clear of his teammate in second place.

Carpe will be looking to close the gap on his teammate, having become the main challenger with his fourth place at Assen. With no previous experience at the Sachsenring, the rookie will try to adapt as quickly as possible to an unfamiliar track. He can draw confidence from his recent results, and will try to learn the tight, twisty track in rapid fashion. The Spaniard has finished in the Top 4 for five consecutive races, with three fourth places in France, Great Britain, and the Netherlands, in addition to podiums in Aragon (third) and Italy (second). After overtaking Angel Piqueras in the overall standings, he has also extended his lead at the top of the Rookie of the Year ranking, 32 points clear of his closest rival, Maximo Quiles.

In conclusion, Jose Antonio Rueda and Alvaro Carpe want to give another joy to the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 after regaining the Top 2 of the overall standings that they already achieved after the inaugural Grand Prix in Thailand. With 305 points, 128 points ahead of the next best team, the team are in superb form. At the Sachsenring, their previous wins in the German Grand Prix have come with Pedro Acosta in 2021 and Deniz Öncü in 2023.

Action on track gets underway on Friday at 9:00 a.m. (local time) with Moto3 Free Practice 1. Sunday’s 23-lap race will take place at 11:00 a.m.

#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA

“We’re off to the Sachsenring, a track that suits my riding style and has a lot of left-hand corners, which are the ones I like the most. I hope the weather is good so I can continue the work we’ve been doing every weekend so far. We’ll start from scratch, so as to gradually grow and see if we have a little more luck than last year. I’ll give my all to try and make the team happy, as they have been working incredibly hard at all the tracks.”

#83 ALVARO CARPE

“Sachsenring is another new track for me. I’ll have to continue gaining experience so I can continue growing at all the events on the calendar, regardless of their characteristics. I’m very excited after my comeback at Assen and the performance we had, even though we didn’t have the best luck in the world at the end. I think we showed evidence that we’re doing a lot of things well, so we have to take advantage of that for the upcoming races. Last week I lost a friend, so this weekend he’ll definitely be supporting us from above. We’ll race for him.”
