The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider had suffered a crash while training on Monday afternoon in Turkey.

Deniz Öncü underwent successful surgery on his left leg this Tuesday afternoon, to treat a fractured left distal fibula suffered while training on Monday in Turkey. After the crash, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider was taken to hospital to receive medical attention, where it was determined that surgery was the best course to fix the injuries, which had also affected syndesmosis and deltoid ligament.

Dr. Özcan Koçanli performed the operation at Anatolia Hospital Lara (Turkey). The specialist has done an open reduction and internal fixation for fibula fracture, a tight rope for syndesmotic injury and a suture anchor for deltoid ligament and joint capsula.

After confirming that the operation went well and a night spent under observation, Öncü will be discharged tomorrow so he can begin his recovery process as soon as possible. While the timeframe for his return to competition is still unknown, his progress will ultimately determine his comeback date.
