Rueda and Carpe return to action at Austrian Grand Prix

13/08/2025

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 duo return from the summer break for the team’s home race.

Following the summer break, Jose Antonio Rueda and Alvaro Carpe will be back on track on a special weekend for the entire Red Bull KTM Ajo team. On the calendar since 2016, the Red Bull Ring hosts the latest edition of the Austrian Grand Prix -both the team’s and KTM’s home race. There, the two Spanish riders will try to start the second half of the season with two good results that will allow them to continue leading with confidence all the standings in which they take part: the overall, the rookies and the teams one.

Rueda comes into the round as leader of the Moto3 World Championship standings. He has scored points on his two previous visits to the Red Bull Ring in Grand Prix racing: In his debut year, the Spaniard finished eleventh, but was able to qualify fourth. Last year he was fifth on the grid, however he struggled somewhat on the final laps of the race, forcing him to settle for seventh place. Previously, in 2022, he achieved a second and fourth place finish in Austria during his sole season as a Red Bull Rookies Cup rider. Currently, with his confidence sky-high and in excellent form, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 man will be aiming for his first podium finish at the track. With 228 points and an 85-point lead in the series, Rueda has seven wins and nine podiums after twelve rounds in 2025.

Carpe also has fond memories of the track from the Red Bull Rookies Cup. In that competition, between 2023 and 2024 he achieved a total of three wins and a second place from four rounds held there. The Austrian round was the only one where he achieved two victories on a single race weekend. The Spanish rider feels confident about his first visit to the venue in the Moto3 World Championship, in which he is in third place overall with 133 points -just one point behind second place. He also remains the leader of the Rookie of the Year ranking by seven points.

All in all, the thirteenth round of the championship will be a special one for the Red Bull KTM Ajo team, who will be looking for a good result to offer the Austrian fans at the team’s home track. With 361 points, Rueda and Carpe have put Red Bull KTM Ajo comfortably in front in the Team standings, and will try to continue extending their strong run. The team have previously taken victory in Austria with Deniz Öncü in 2023, and a second place with Brad Binder in 2016.

Moto3 will take to the track for the first time from 9:00 a.m. (local time) on Friday, with Free Practice 1. The 20-lap race itself gets underway at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA

“We’re arriving in Austria, at a circuit I really enjoyed last year. It’s true that I wasn’t quite able to finish the job in the race in 2024, but this year we’ll try again. As always, we’ll start from scratch, just as we did in all the races in the first half of the season. I’m looking forward to getting back on the bike after this three-week break, and I’m very motivated. Plus, we’re riding at KTM’s home race, which gives us an extra boost to try to have a good showing in front of the Austrian crowd.”

#83 ALVARO CARPE

“The Red Bull Ring is one of my favourite tracks. We’ve always achieved great results there in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, so going back gives us a lot of confidence and motivation. I’ve won there three times, and it’s also the team’s home Grand Prix, so it’s shaping up to be a very important round for me. We’re arriving in good form, rested, and 100% prepared, so we’ll see what we’re capable of doing. I’m already looking forward to be out on track on Friday. I think it’s going to be a great weekend for us.”
