Darryn Binder motivated for Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Grand Prix

08/08/2018

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider is targetting a special performance at the Austrian GP –an important round for Red Bull and KTM.

The Moto3 World Championship contests a second round in as many weeks when the series hits the spectacular Red Bull Ring, which features on the calendar for the third consecutive year. The Austrian GP is a special race for the team, as it is the home round for both Red Bull and KTM. As such, Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider Darryn Binder wants to provide a good result for the fans.

His return from injury at Brno was difficult, but the South African is putting that behind him and is firmly focused on Austria. Binder, who missed last season’s round at Spielberg through injury, has only contested one race at the track, finishing seventeenth in 2016. The goal for this weekend is to get back into the points.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo team took a podium in Austria in 2016, when Darryn’s older brother Brad claimed second in Moto3. This year’s race will start at 11am local time on Sunday.

“The Red Bull Ring is a circuit with very different characteristics to Brno. It has very long straights and many strong braking points; this is an aspect of the track that I like a lot and that makes me eager to ride there –even more so because I missed last year’s race. In addition, it’s Red Bull and KTM’s home Grand Prix, so it will be a very special weekend in which we will have many opportunities to spend time with fans who come to the circuit. I’m looking forward to getting out on track and enjoying this great weekend.”
