Misano provides a new challenge for Darryn Binder

05/09/2018

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider returns to action at the San Marino GP, following the cancellation of the race at Silverstone a fortnight ago.

After an unusual British Grand Prix, which ended with all the races on the Sunday cancelled due to rain and the conditions of the track, the Red Bull KTM Ajo team are even keener to take on the thirteenth round of the Moto3 World Championship. Darryn Binder will try to shine at a Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli where the team have a brilliant record since 2012: Two wins –in 2012 and 2016–, as well as two more podiums and two pole positions.

The entire weekend at Silverstone proved tough for Darryn Binder, who was unable to follow his work plan to completion due to the weather conditions. The young Red Bull KTM Ajo rider rode at Misano in 2015 and 2016, missing last year’s round due to an injury. His goal is to return to the fight for the Top 15, at a track where he has yet to score points.

The 23-lap Moto3 race will be held at 11:00am local time.

40 DARRYN BINDER

“It was a real shame not to be able to race at Silverstone. We feel really bad for the fans, but safety always comes first. Last week I was at MotorLand Aragon training supermoto for a few days, while the rest of the days I spent at home in Spain taking advantage of the good weather to go cycling. The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is a track that I like a lot and I have very good memories of my first race there with the Red Bull Rookies Cup –Top 5–. I also love the area, so it’s a time of year that I especially enjoy. Our first objective should be to enter into the points again, although what I would really like would be a Top 10 finish.”
