Niki Tuuli goes fastest in Austria after dominating in FP1 and FP2.

A month after winning the first race in FIM Enel MotoE World Cup history, Niki Tuuli and the Ajo MotoE Team returned to action at the Red Bull Ring. The Finnish rider, who leads the championship, was the standout of the two Free Practice sessions, showing great potential both in terms of a single lap and his race pace.

Tuuli started the day in top form, setting the best time in FP1. The Finn was one of only two riders capable of breaking the 1:36 barrier, with a 1:35.866 on the fifth of his 11 laps. Thanks to this time, Tuuli was the fastest man in the session.

In FP2, the Ajo MotoE rider continued his positive form, taking 6 tenths off his morning time in his opening run. After completing a total of 11 laps and topping the timesheets, he set a 1:35.225 time, 6 tenths quicker than his closest rival.

Niki Tuuli will have one last Free Practice session tomorrow at 8:30 am, before the E-Pole session gets underway at 4:00 pm.

“I started the weekend on a high note, after the victory at Sachsenring. I feel good every time I go out on track with the MotoE bike. I think we have a competitive base setting for every circuit. Our plan is to be in the Top 3 in each session, and that is what we did both in the morning and in the afternoon. In FP2 we made some changes to the bike and we managed to improve our lap time by 6 tenths. I’m happy about that. Everything went as planned. Now we are going to try to find something extra for tomorrow. I’m looking forward to the E-Pole session.”
