FIM MotoE World Cup debut cut short for Lucas Mahias

15/11/2019

The French rider, making his Ajo MotoE Team debut this weekend, was seventh when he injured his right hand in FP2 at the Valencia GP.

Lucas Mahias was out of luck today at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. After a positive debut yesterday in FP1 and having performed well at the start of FP2, the French rider crashed in the final minutes of the session, hurting the little finger on his right hand. The injury required him to be hospitalised and to be scheduled for surgery.

The 2017 Supersport World Champion had represented the Ajo MotoE Team for the first time yesterday, in place of Niki Tuuli. After a promising opening day on the bike, today he kept up his good work in FP2, continuing with his adaptation to the category. After completing 8 laps, Mahias crashed when he was seventh on the timesheets and unfortunately he will now be unable to play any further part in the Valencia GP. The Frenchman was taken to the Hospital de la Fe in Valencia, where he underwent surgery, and he was therefore unable to take part in the E-Pole session this afternoon.
