Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders complete first of three days of final preseason test at the Losail International Circuit.

With a week to go before the 2020 World Championship gets underway, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders traveled to Qatar early for a three-day test – the last of the preseason. On the same track that will host the first round of the year, Raul Fernandez and Kaito Toba resumed the work they began last week in Jerez and, once again, showed that they are adapting well to the new KTM bike.

Fernandez continued to gather data for his crew, in order to find the best setup for his Moto3 machine. The Spaniard tested different set ups throughout the 53 laps he put in at the Qatari track, at the end of the day feeling more comfortable on the bike. Raul was 13th overall, with a personal best of 2:07.239.

A previous Grand Prix winner at Losail, Kaito Toba took constant steps forward on Friday, improving his feeling significantly by the end of the day. The Japanese rider continued to gain experience with the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 bike, completing a total of 45 laps and stopping the clock at 2:07.684, to finish Friday in 19th overall.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team still have two more days of work at the Losail International Circuit this weekend, in which they will prepare for the start of the 2020 season.

25 RAUL FERNANDEZ

“We came to Qatar with a good base thanks to the work that we did last week at Jerez. The start of the day was good, but as it progressed we found things a little harder because I was not comfortable with the set up of the bike. However, the team pushed through, and on the last stint we found a configuration with which my feeling improved. We still have two more days of testing in which to continue taking steps forward, and to get ready for the first race of 2020.”

27 KAITO TOBA

“To start with we struggled a bit, but as the day progressed we took great steps forward. In general Friday was positive, since my pace was good. We must continue working in the same way tomorrow and on Sunday. Our goal right now is to lower our lap time, so we will do our best to achieve that.”
